Independent label SimG Records is to release Dougal Irvine’s debut album ‘Acoustic Overtures: The Songs of Dougal Irvine’ this Autumn. The long-awaited album features 12 previously unrecorded songs, specially selected from Dougal’s catalogue of work, with guest vocals by leading West End performers.

‘Acoustic Overtures’ is part financed using WeFund – a fund raising platform for creatives. Incentives for making a WeFund pledge towards the debut album include a signed album, launch tickets and even a personalised song. The project has reached the 122% of the total amount requested in less than one week.

This album with songs of Dougal Irvine with arrangements by Peter White will be out in October 2011. The complete track list and the guest vocals will be announced shortly.
 
Dougal Irvine is an award winning new writer of British Musical Theatre. His first musical ‘Departure Lounge’ has played New York, Chicago and London, and was nominated alongside five multi-million pound West End shows in the ‘Best New Musical’ category at the WhatsOnStage Awards. His second musical ‘In Touch’ played the Edinburgh Festival last year to five star reviews, and is due for production in London early next year. He is also the lyricist on the TMA Award Nominated ‘Britain’s Got Bhangra’ which embarks on its second UK Tour in Autumn 2011, prior to a West End run.
